Our love for Oaxaca, its colors, its food and its unique mix of cultures goes way back. We are delighted to be opening our second hotel in the heart of this rebel city on the rise. Set in an 18th century mansion renovated and decorated with our special touch, Grana is our love declaration to Oaxaca, to the South, to daydreamers, and to wandering poets who've decided to turn their lifestyle into art. Named after the famous "grana cochinilla" that was once the gold of Oaxaca, we let the botanical elements of this pre-hispanic dye inspire us in the architecture and decoration of the rooms and common spaces.
Slip on a pair of huaraches as you step out of your tub and join the communal breakfast table where blue corn tortillas are being heated on a comal and enjoy a plate of juicy, sugar-sweet tropical fruits coming directly from the lush Oaxacan coast. Go out and about, take a stroll through the UNESCO world heritage historic center where we are centrally located, or hop on car and let a local guide tell you the fascinating story of the ancient pre-hispanic ruins of Monte Alban which was once considered to be the most important city of Mesoamerica.

Facilities: Besides our suites and rooms, Grana has a charming breakfast room, an inner courtyard featuring an antique fountain and hammocks hanging between green cantera columns, a multipurpose room for your yoga morning routines or your light reading session on top of a floor lounge hand woven carpet surrounded by comfy cushions as well as a romantic rooftop with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and the famous Oaxacan sunsets (coming soon).
B&B: Breakfast is served daily. Besides our regular continental options, our local cooks prepare everyday a different traditional Mexican dish to offer you a glimpse of Oaxacan gastronomy, because no trip to Oaxaca is complete without a sip of Oaxacan hot chocolate and a taste of mole!
Grana is located one block from Santo Domingo church, in the middle of the pedestrian zone, facing a small park adorned with leafy trees. One step out the front door leads you straight to Oaxaca's most famous restaurants and mezcalerias where our hosts will be happy to book a table for you. A 10-minute walk through the quiet, cobblestoned streets that form the historic center leads you to a shady zocalo flanked by the famous Benito Juarez market where traditional cooks serve local specialties like tejate, mole, tlayudas and of course mezcal! A second building of the market is dedicated to selling embroidered textiles and other handcrafts like huaraches, ceramics, alebrijes... But there's more to Oaxaca than just the historic center!
Nested in the middle of a Y shaped convergence of valleys, Oaxaca offers endless possibilities to those who wish to extend their exploration to the surrounding villages and eco-touristic attractions like the Sierra Juarez, the petrified waterfalls of Hierve el Agua, or artisan villages like San Bartolo Coyotepec and Teotitlan del Valle.
